Mikva Challenge remains committed to serving young people and elevating their participation throughout this crisis. We will continue to work with young people to address their concerns and ensure their voices, stories, and ideas are part of the local and national policy discussion surrounding the global COVID-19 crisis. Mikva Challenge IL works with over 10,000 young people in Chicago each year, helping them become involved in elections, public policy work, and paid internships in government offices. Our Annual Spring Benefit is one of Mikva’s core strategies for funding this important work developing youth to be empowered, informed, and active citizens who will promote a just and equitable society. In light of social distancing guidelines, Mikva Challenge must officially cancel our Annual Spring Benefit. Although we may not be able to meet in person, we invite you to continue to create space in the coming weeks to celebrate youth changemakers, civic action and leadership with us. In lieu of a physical Spring Benefit this year, Mikva Challenge IL will hold a virtual event on May 28, 2020, and I promise you, it will be filled with the best component of Mikva’s event - Youth Voice! As we lead up to the event, I look forward to sharing stories with you of our powerful youth leaders and how Mikva Challenge is supporting our youth financially and emotionally, and adapting the ways we deliver our work. | |
