Our Summer Fellows included 20 students from throughout DC. It was our largest and most diverse cohort yet with students from 10 schools residing in 7 out of 8 wards. From addressing school and community safety to expanding access to employment opportunities for returning citizens, each of our students worked on significant initiatives this summer. They conducted student focus groups, worked in key local and national political leaders' offices, promoted awareness, researched and created policy suggestions, and spoke up on the subjects that mattered most to them. We even added two new experiences to our program which included a financial literacy workshop and a court simulation with a DC Magistrate Judge. The fellowship allowed students to bring their opinions and ideas straight into legislators' offices while learning about how local government operates. 2022 DC Summer Fellow Hosts Councilmember Charles Allen (Ward 6) Councilmember Elissa Silverman (At-Large) Councilmember Christina Henderson (At-Large) Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie (Ward 5) Councilmember Brooke Pinto (Ward 2) Office of the Deputy Mayor of Education DC Office of the Student Advocate DC State Board of Education DC Policy Center The Office of Revenue Analysis Federal City Council Office of the DC Attorney General Hart Research Judge Zia Faruqui, Magistrate Judge |
